Workspot Agent for Windows 3.4.0

Document status: Preview

Latest update: April 4, 2023 by Robert Plamondon

Overview

  • New-feature release.
  • Available now.

Highlights

  • Improved data reporting for AMD GPUs.
  • Better Azure Windows 11 integration by reporting Azure resource link to Control.
  • Desktops resuming from standby or hibernation now check for Agent updates shortly after resuming if they slept through the usual update period.
  • Reliability improvements.

Known Issues

  • Customers with Workspot GCP power management currently need to disable all power management on their templates and desktops in order to leave these tasks to Workspot. Set "Turn Off Display After" to "Never," disable sleep and hibernation, and set the Power Plan to "High Performance." Otherwise, both performance and power management may be erratic.

Automatic Updates

On persistent desktops, the Agent service checks for updates once every 24 hours, so these virtual machines are updated within 24 hours of a new release provided they are running and have connectivity to Workspot Control.

Newly cloned desktops check for Agent updates just once after being cloned.

Non-persistent desktops, preview-mode templates, and published templates do not auto-update. See Control:  Applying Updated Images to Desktop Pools and Using Workspot Templates for more information.

Manual Download and Installation

Manual installation is rarely necessary. The procedure is given in Workspot Agent Installation and Configuration.

Supported Platforms

  • For Workspot Desktops: Currently Windows 10 Enterprise 22H2, 21H2, and 20H2, and Windows 11 Pro and Enterprise 22H2 and 21H2.
  • For Workspot Apps and RD Pools: Windows Server 2019 and 2016. (Remote Desktop Services with RD Session Host role must also be installed.)
  • See Workspot OS and Hardware Requirements .
